GP Training – The Hospital Years
The ST1 & ST2 years one and two (ST1 and ST2) give the budding GP experience in various hospital specialities that are relevant to General Practice. In addition to the traditional four or six month posts in the key specialties, there are also innovative eGPR and Elective posts which allow one to experience more time in general practice and to tailor experience to your own needs.
The Programme Organisers run a monthly half-day release course which all ST1&2 trainees attend.
Without an eye to the future, there is a risk that ST1&2 posts can become dominated by service commitment - especially towards the end, when you have climbed the steep learning curve to become competent in most aspects of your post. With this in mind, please take a look at the Goals for ST1&2.
