Dr Julian Strauss
DCH, DRCOG, FRCGP, MRCPsych
Dr Strauss has been a trainer since 1990 and a GP for even longer. Despite all the changes and threats, he still really enjoys being a GP and GP training.
GP trainees are now under great pressure – with job insecurity and the demands of a licensing exam. However he firmly believes that despite these pressures training in General Practice can still be a very stimulating and enjoyable time.
He believes each trainee needs an individual programme so they can develop and learn at their own pace – with enough challenge to be kept interested – but not pushed too hard as people do not learn well when they are anxious.

See our website for the full story…. We have had the pleasure of training over 30 registrars in this practice. The whole practice team is involved with training and has built up considerable experience and expertise in managing training. We have achieved maximum QUOF points three years running and have all the usual attached staff – community and practice nurses, physiotherapy, psychology, midwife, health visitors etc as well as computerised ECG , Full respiratory function tests, pulse oximeters, liquid nitrogen spray and Trop T tests,. The registrar has their own room, we are fully computerised (EMIS PCS ) with a windows based clinical system which is very clear and straightforward to use as well as access in every room to the wealth of clinical information and educational tools on the internet. All the doctors carry out minor surgery and joint injections – and are keen to teach these procedures.
Special Interests within the practice
All the partners are generalists and believe in the science and art of General Practice. Our special interest is in providing good quality General Practice and teaching.
