Trainers
Dr Richard J Levitt
MB ChB DA DRCOG MRCGP DCH (Bristol 1978)
I have been involved in general practice training for the past 20 years at all levels from medical student through to F2 and GPRs. Teaching methods in surgery range from informal discussion every morning, through weekly joint surgeries and tutorials to structured video surgeries. The pass rate for the MRCGP is still 100%! All former GPR’s have been successful in finding good partnerships, many in the local area. I have particular interest in medical orthopaedics and occupational health issues. When not at work, I can be found on the water sailing, sea-kayaking or occasionally, playing bad golf.
Dr Patrick J Seal
MA MBBS MRCGP
Qualified from Cambridge & UCH (1985) Trainer since 2001. Experienced training with F1, F2, VTS trust attached and shortened (18 Months) scheme registrars. Special interest in dermatology. Currently locality lead for Central Pool. I work out-of-hours four sessions/month, so able to offer full training requirements for completion of training. High doctrine protected coffee time, so all doctors can meet, share concerns, jokes, etc. All previous trainees 100% pass rate MRCGP.
About the Practice
The central Poole surgery of the Adam Practice is housed in a new purpose built medical centre, opposite Poole General Hospital. There are, in all, four partners and one assistant. We have six consulting rooms, two nursing suites including a minor operation suite. There is also a pharmacy within the building. The list size of this PMS practice is approximately 8,000 patients, distributed through all social economic groups with a higher than average obstetric and child health workload. We also look after the residents of the islands of Poole Harbour. The Adam Practice has been involved with GP training since the 1970’s and is placed very conveniently for Poole Hospital and the VTS Day Release course at the Poole Postgraduate Centre; it is part of a larger group practice working from four buildings with a practice population of over 30,000. The practice is a PMS practice, involved with PBC with two partners leading the development of in house ophthalmology and paediatric services for the practice and wider locality.
Special Interests within the practice
The practice offers a variety of specialist clinics within the surgery – asthma, diabetes, well woman clinics, child health and development. Under special interests within the practice, partners hold outside appointments in cardiology, ophthalmology and paediatrics. Dr Seal is the locality lead for the PCT and Dr Levitt sit on the Dorest and Hants LMC.
